Making visible the Kingdom of God

The Charismatic Episcopal Church is a field hospital for sinners.

Making God’s Kingdom known in our everyday lives.

An Apostolic Charismatic Evangelical Sacramental Church

Bishop Elmer Belmonte - Ordinary of the Diocese of Europe

Empowered to Make God’s Kingdom Known in Europe

The founding vision of the CEC 1992 is to "make visible the Kingdom of God to the nations of the world; bringing together the rich sacramental and liturgical life of the early church to searching evangelicals and charismatics; to carry the power of Pentecost to our brothers and sisters in the historic churches; and finally, to provide a home for all Christians who seek a catholic, evangelical, charismatic church and a foundation for their lives and gifts of ministry.”

At the center of worship is the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist (Holy Communion) which we believe is the real presence of Christ. We celebrate the living historic forms of the liturgies of the church and the seven Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Eucharist (Holy Communion), Confession, Healing, Holy Orders, and Holy Matrimony.A church open to the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit. We believe in the priesthood of all believers. Spiritual gifts are given to baptised and confirmed Christians. We witness in 18 communities gathered in 8 countries throughout Europe. We are part of a much larger international family of the ICCEC.

We are committed to the preaching of the Gospel to accomplish the great commission and work towards Christian Unity. We are a church with bishops in apostolic succession who are humbly submitted to the leading of the Holy Spirit and to each other. We believe in the priesthood of all believers. Spiritual gifts are given to baptised and confirmed Christians. We witness in18 communities gathered in 8 countries throughout Europe. We are part of a much larger international family of the ICCEC.

The Charismatic Episcopal Church in the United Kingdom is part of the Diocses of Europe and under the pastoral care of Bishop Elmer Belmonte for 30 years. Bishop Elmer lives and adminsters the Diocese from Madrid, Spain. As in other countries the local Roman Catholic churches and Anglican churches are very generous in thier support of our CEC communities in permitting us to share their church or offer long term partnerships in leasing to us.

▸ Episcopal Authority

Ordered by succession. Led with pastoral care.

Bishop Elmer Belmonte shepherds the Diocese of Europe, holding together sacramental order and Spirit-led community life. His authority is not merely institutional — it is apostolic, exercised in the tradition the CEC has received.

The Diocese of Europe sits within the International Communion of the Charismatic Episcopal Church under Archbishop Charles Jones, whose oversight unites CEC dioceses across the world in one shared confession and order.

ICCEC Membership

Part of something older and wider

Our two communities — St Stephen the Martyr in London and St John the Beloved in Edinburgh — are open to all who seek worship in this tradition.

The International Communion of the Charismatic Episcopal Church spans dioceses across continents, bound by shared sacramental faith, episcopal order, and charismatic expectation. This diocese is not an experiment — it is a local expression of that global communion.
